"Science Foundation Ireland funds Lymphoma Biomarker Discovery Project"
Dr Derek Murphy of the CHP is currently collaborating with scientists at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and University College Dublin on a project funded by SFI to study the identification, characterisation and discovery of potential lymphoma markers using protein array technology.
There are over 30 types of lymphomas that each require specific treatment. This makes the correct diagnosis of the difference subtypes very important. Our novel approach uses arrays containing thousands of recombinant proteins to identify new potential disease markers which can then be used to aid in diagnosis. These studies will also help us to understand better the molecular pathways involved in the disease.
